MICHAEL JUDE RUSSO GREEN ART
Animals & Insects
Shapes and objects in my environment often remind me of animals and insects. This has led to an evolving line of sculptures that, as realistic art pieces, connect our minds to the true surrealism in our world. Are they real now - or in the future?
ANIMAL HEADS
These began as experiments in the evolution of two shoes into sculpture. They followed the use of single shoes (as in the "Black Flies & Other" category).
BEES, ETC
These were an experiment in the application of palm fronds as wings and windshield wipers as legs on shoe bodies.
BIRDS
These are not "birds of a feather" but of different feathers (and wings, and tails, and beaks, etc.)
BLACK FLIES & OTHERS
In the beginning there were flies (one of the first steps in single-shoe sculpture).
BUGS
The variety is as endless as the artifacts from which they are derived.
CATS & DOGS
Uncontained and light-headed is how you could feel about some of these flashy pets.
FISH, FUNCTIONAL FISH
The function evolved from "A Step in Evolution" Sea?
JEANETIC FLIES
These were an experiment influenced by genome research. It's in the jeans - and size matters.
MAIL GRASSHOPPERS
The functional mail parts rise to the occasion as the head is pulled up.
TURTLES, VIPERS, ETC.
Reptile development was a shoe-in for a jump in evolution.
